Zurich Airport (ZRH) lies twelve kilometres north of the city centre, and the drive into town takes 15 to 20 minutes. What makes a transfer good or bad happens before the drive: finding your chauffeur in the right hall, not paying for a delayed flight, and knowing the price before you get in. This guide explains how a private transfer works at ZRH, in both directions.
01Arrivals 1 or Arrivals 2: where your chauffeur waits
ZRH has two arrivals halls. Flights from Docks A and B and Schengen connections arrive in Arrivals 1; Dock E and the intercontinental flights in Arrivals 2. Your chauffeur waits with a name sign in the right hall as you come out of baggage claim — we can tell which one from your flight number, so you do not have to work it out yourself.
We track the flight in real time. If it lands early or late, the pickup moves with it, and the first 60 minutes after the actual landing are included in the fixed price. A slow passport queue or the last suitcase on the belt costs you nothing; if the flight is cancelled and rebooked, we move the pickup to the new flight.
02Transfers between terminals
If you are only changing planes, you stay inside the airport and do not need a car. A transfer matters once you leave: when you land and continue by road, or when someone collects you at Arrivals 1 or 2 and takes you to a hotel, an office or another city. For departures we drop you directly at Check-in 1 or Check-in 2, whichever your flight uses.
03Departures: from your door to check-in
For a departing flight the chauffeur collects you at home, at your hotel or at the office — at four in the morning for the first flight, too — and sets you down at the check-in hall. Fifteen minutes of waiting are included at the pickup address, and the chauffeur helps with your luggage to check-in. If you have time to spare, you can be dropped at The Circle, three minutes from check-in.
04Travel times from Zurich Airport
Paradeplatz and the Bahnhofstrasse hotels: 15 to 20 minutes. Zurich West: 15 minutes. The Dolder: 25 minutes. The Gold Coast — Zollikon, Küsnacht, Erlenbach, Herrliberg, Meilen: 20 to 35 minutes. Winterthur: about 25 minutes. Zug: 35 minutes. Lucerne: 50 minutes. Basel: about an hour. Bern: about 1 hour 20 minutes. Davos: around two hours.
05Choosing the right vehicle
The Mercedes E-Class and S-Class take three passengers and three suitcases. With more luggage, skis or a family, book the V-Class: six seats and room for six bags. Groups of up to 16 travel in the Mercedes Sprinter. Child seats are free on request, and in winter every vehicle runs on winter tyres.
06What a Zurich Airport transfer costs
Every transfer is a fixed price per vehicle, not per person, agreed before the ride. It includes the chauffeur, fuel, motorway vignette, Swiss VAT, meet & greet, waiting time and luggage. On selected dates — public holidays, major events, WEF — seasonal prices apply. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup, and you can pay by card, on invoice with a corporate account, or in the vehicle.
07Booking tips
Book at least 24 hours ahead, and earlier for the summer peak, the Christmas holidays and WEF week in January. Give us your flight number so we can track the flight. Mention anything unusual in one line — a hotel with a tricky entrance, a company gate, extra luggage — and we plan around it. The evening before, you receive a written confirmation with the fixed price, the vehicle class and your chauffeur's name and mobile number.
